Services Sector Contribution to GDP in Brazil (1990-2022)

Brazil’s services sector saw a rapid rise from 60.5% in 1990 to 73.3% in 1993, followed by a major correction to 56.9% in 1994 as economic reforms focused on industry. The sector gradually rebounded in the 2000s, reaching 63.3% by 2017, boosted by telecommunications and financial services expansion. The services sector's share fell to 61.4% in 2020 during the pandemic but started to recover as restrictions lifted, ending at 58.9% in 2022. The sector’s growth remains linked to urbanization, consumption, and digital services expansion in Brazil’s economy.
