Population Density in Cameroon from 1990 to 2021

Cameroon’s population density experienced a steady rise from 1990 to 2021, reflecting ongoing population growth. In 1990, the density was 24 people per square kilometer. By 1995, it reached 28 people per sq. km, continuing to climb as the population expanded. This upward trend persisted into the 2000s, with the density growing to 37 people per sq. km by 2005. The pace of growth accelerated in the 2010s, reaching 49 by 2015 and 58 by 2021. Factors such as high birth rates, rural-urban migration, and a growing urban population contributed to this increase, particularly in cities like Douala and Yaoundé.
