Cambodia Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by Year (1975–2023)

In the late 1970s, the country’s economy was significantly impacted by civil war and the Khmer Rouge regime, leading to minimal economic activity and low GDP levels. However, starting in the mid-1980s, the country began to rebuild, and economic reforms initiated in the 1990s triggered gradual GDP growth.

From the early 2000s, Cambodia's GDP showed substantial increases, fueled by garment exports, tourism, and construction. Despite a dip in the late 1990s, Cambodia’s economy rebounded quickly, with GDP surpassing $10 billion in 2008 and showing continuous upward trends until 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic caused a decline in GDP in 2020, but the country began recovering in 2021 and 2022, bolstered by economic diversification efforts and international trade partnerships. By 2023, Cambodia's GDP reached $31.8 billion.
