Limited Awareness of Cryptocurrency in Mexico

Cryptocurrency is still a relatively new and evolving space for many people, especially in countries like Mexico. While 29% of Mexicans say they are familiar with it, there’s a larger group who are still unaware or not familiar with the concept of digital currencies.

Moderate Adoption of Cryptocurrency in Mexico

Despite a decent percentage of Mexicans knowing about cryptocurrency, fewer have actually interacted with it in a meaningful way. Around 45% of people in Mexico have used or owned cryptocurrency at some point. The majority have never owned or used cryptocurrency, which could point to lingering skepticism or a lack of incentive to dive into the market.

High Curiosity but Some Worry on Cryptocurrency

The cryptocurrency market appears promising. About 57% of people are curious and want to learn more, but haven’t bought any yet. On the flip side, some have no interest in cryptocurrency at all, and some are worried about the risks involved. Only a small group, about 3%, used to own cryptocurrency but no longer do.

Most Mexicans Stick with Traditional Payments

When it comes to paying for things, most people in Mexico still prefer cash which shows a strong trust in traditional methods. Mobile payments and digital wallets are slowly becoming more popular. For example, 26% of people have their credit card info saved on their phones, and some have used apps like Venmo to send money. However, using cryptocurrency to pay for purchases is still rare, with only 12% reporting that they have done so.

Binance and Bitcoin Lead as Top Exchange and Most Known Crypto

When it comes to cryptocurrency exchanges, Binance leads the market in Mexico, with Coinbase trailing significantly behind. Other platforms like eToro, Kraken, and KuCoin hold much smaller shares, each under 6%. As for the cryptocurrencies themselves, Bitcoin is by far the most recognized and widely known in the country.
