Manufacturing Sector Contribution to GDP in Indonesia (1990-2022)

Indonesia’s manufacturing sector saw growth in the early 1990s, peaking at 26.8% in 1997. The Asian financial crisis led to a slight dip, followed by a resurgence in the early 2000s, hitting 32% in 2002. However, manufacturing’s GDP share declined steadily afterward, reaching 18.3% in 2022. While Indonesia continues to benefit from low-cost manufacturing, recent challenges include a shift toward services, infrastructure demands, and competition from other ASEAN countries, contributing to the sector's gradual decline in GDP share.
