Botswana’s manufacturing contribution rose modestly from 4.8% in 1990, peaking at 8.5% in 2007, before declining to 5.4% in 2022. The sector’s growth through the 2000s aligns with investments in diamond processing and agro-processing. However, reduced contribution post-2015 indicates challenges in sustaining industrial momentum, possibly due to high import reliance and competition from neighboring economies. Despite efforts in diversification, the manufacturing sector's share reflects the need for further industrial policy support.
