Industry Sector Contribution to GDP in Algeria (1990-2022)

Algeria’s industry sector contribution to GDP fluctuated significantly, with a peak of 58.1% in 2006, driven primarily by its oil and gas exports. However, falling global oil prices and efforts to diversify the economy saw this sector's contribution decline to 32.5% in 2020. Recovery efforts, including increased government support for industrial diversification, led to a resurgence, reaching 45.9% in 2022. Algeria’s reliance on hydrocarbons, paired with global energy price shifts, heavily influences this sector’s variability and its ongoing efforts to stabilize through economic diversification.
