Manufacturing Sector Contribution to GDP in Peru (1990-2022)

Peru’s manufacturing sector maintained a steady GDP contribution of around 16% in the early 2000s. However, the sector gradually declined, reaching 11.7% in 2022 as mining and services grew in importance. The sector remains focused on food processing and textiles, but high costs and limited industrial diversification pose challenges. Recent efforts to diversify and modernize the sector have met with moderate success, but mining and agriculture continue to dominate Peru’s economic landscape.
