What Ride-Hailing Adoption Among Gen Z Tells Us | TGM StatBox

Explore TGM Research findings on Gen Z ride-hailing adoption and how widely younger consumers are using on-demand mobility services.

*In this article, Gen Z findings primarily refer to respondents aged 18–29, depending on the age bands available in each TGM study.

The data: on-demand convenience is now a daily habit, not an occasional treat

Ride-hailing has become a widely used mobility option among younger consumers.TGM Research's Global Ride-Hailing Insights 2026, covering 30 markets, found that 74% of consumers aged 18–29 (N=7,923) have used a ride-hailing app, the highest usage rate among all age groups.

This high adoption points to strong demand for on-demand mobility among Gen Z. For ride-hailing platforms, it represents a large and active consumer base. For brands operating around mobility, travel and urban experiences, it also highlights an audience that is already comfortable using digital services to meet their transportation needs.

Strategic implications for brands

Meeting a convenience bar set by ride-hailing apps doesn't mean every brand needs to deliver in minutes. means removing friction wherever it exists:

  1. Prioritise Gen Z as a key mobility audience: High usage suggests Gen Z is already familiar with ride-hailing as part of everyday mobility. Platforms can focus on understanding when, where and why this group uses the service.
  2. Understand what drives repeated usage: Adoption alone does not explain why consumers choose one platform over another. Brands should validate factors such as price, availability, waiting time, safety and payment preferences.
  3. Build around lifestyle needs: High ride-hailing adoption also creates opportunities around airports, events, dining, tourism and other occasions where consumers need convenient point-to-point transport.

With ride-hailing already widely adopted among Gen Z, the opportunity for brands is to understand where mobility demand is strongest and what this audience expects from the services built around it.
