More Awareness, Limited Adoption of Crypto in Saudi Arabia

In Saudi Arabia, cryptocurrency is starting to get more attention, but not everyone is fully on board. A little under half of the population is familiar with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum. But when it comes to actual use, though, the numbers shift quite a bit. While 39% of people have owned or used some form of cryptocurrency, a majority have never used it.

Crypto Curiosity Grows, But Many Remain Skeptical

Interest in cryptocurrency, however, is still somewhat mixed. There’s a sizable portion of the population—around 33%—eager to learn more, but without owning any themselves, showing that many are open to the idea but not yet fully invested. On the other hand, a larger group say they have little to no interest in cryptocurrency. Some express concerns about the risks involved, whether it's about the volatility, security, or the uncertain regulatory landscape.

Trust Issues Slow Down Crypto Adoption

There are also some big barriers stopping more people from adopting cryptocurrency. Nearly 46% say they don’t understand it well enough, and 45% are worried about security. Additionally, a group of people pointed to regulatory uncertainty as a challenge, and many are also discouraged by the volatility of cryptocurrency's value and high transaction fees. Despite growing awareness, a significant number of respondents cite the lack of widespread acceptance as a key barrier to cryptocurrency adoption. The limited number of businesses and platforms that accept digital currencies restricts their practical use, making it less appealing for everyday transactions. This challenge suggests that for broader adoption to occur, increased merchant acceptance, regulatory support, and seamless integration with existing financial systems will be essential.

Mobile Wallets Dominate Crypto Storage in Saudi Arabia

When it comes to how people store their cryptocurrency, most use mobile wallets or apps. Cryptocurrency exchanges are the second most popular option. Other methods include software wallets and physical devices like Ledger.

Bitcoin Leads, Other Cryptos Struggle for Attention

Bitcoin is the most widely used cryptocurrency among Saudi Arabians. Ethereum is mentioned by just 2%, while lesser-known cryptocurrencies, like Pepe, also make an appearance but still capture a very small portion of interest.
