In Argentina, most people have heard about cryptocurrency, but not everyone understands it well. Around 41% say they are familiar with it, while 34% admit they don’t know much. But knowing about cryptocurrency and actually using it are two different things. More than 65% of people in Argentina say they have owned or used crypto before. Even those who don’t own any now are still interested—over half say they want to learn more.
However, interest does not always mean people feel confident about using crypto. The biggest reason why many avoid it is a lack of understanding. Security is another worry, with a sizeable group of people concerned about safety, and another saying they don’t trust crypto platforms. Rules and regulations are also unclear for many, making them unsure if crypto is safe to use. Even people who do understand crypto worry about its price going up and down too much—about one-third of users see this as a problem.
For those who do own crypto, mobile wallets are the most popular way to store it. Financial apps that combine crypto with banking services are also common. Traditional cryptocurrency exchanges are less popular for storage. Some people use payment services, while others prefer safer physical storage like hardware wallets. A small number of people let someone else manage their crypto or trade directly with others, but most prefer to have control over their own assets.
When choosing a place to trade crypto, Binance is by far the most used platform—most crypto users in Argentina have used it. Coinbase comes next but is much lower. Other platforms like PayPal, Crypto.com, and eToro are used by a few, but they are not as popular. Some people also use smaller platforms like Faucetpay, showing that a few users explore other options beyond the biggest names.
