How widespread is pet ownership among consumers in APAC? TGM StatBox data shows that 62% of surveyed consumers across APAC currently own at least one pet, pointing to a sizeable consumer base for the region's growing pet care market.
But ownership is only the starting point. For brands, knowing how many consumers own pets can help size an opportunity, while deeper consumer insights are needed to understand what those consumers need, buy and value.
According to TGM APAC Pet Care Insights 2026, 62% of surveyed consumers across APAC currently own at least one pet (N=7,342). That means nearly two-thirds of surveyed consumers are currently pet owners, creating a substantial potential audience for products and services across pet food, healthcare, grooming, accessories and other categories.
The ownership rate is even higher among surveyed consumers in China, at 72%. The high adoption rate reflects a rapidly growing culture of humanizing pets, where pets are increasingly viewed as core family members, leading to a willingness to spend on premium care.
High pet ownership rates indicate market volume, but they do not guarantee revenue. Actionable growth depends on understanding how that audience spends, what drives their choices, and where market gaps exist.
To convert raw ownership numbers into commercially viable strategies, business functions must leverage targeted consumer intelligence:
A single data point can answer one business question. A stronger strategy comes from connecting it with the consumer insights relevant to that specific decision.
This is where TGM StatBox can help. Brands and business teams can select the exact consumer data they need by market, topic and question, whether they are assessing pet ownership, spending behavior, purchase drivers or other consumer trends.
Rather than building a strategy around assumptions, teams can use targeted consumer data to make decisions grounded in what consumers actually report.
